OOH’S AND AAH’S FROM CA WORLD

I’m blogging this week from CA World ’13 at Mandalay Bay in fabulous Las Vegas.  It’s just the first day of the event, but I’m already hearing buzz and excitement from attendees about the upcoming release of CA ClarityTM PPM, especially with regards to the updated portfolio management capabilities revealed by Lokesh Jindal (General Manager, Service & Portfolio Management) and Michael Lester (VP, Product Management) in presentations this morning.

Some of the attendees I’ve been speaking to are challenged by lack of visibility into their enterprise portfolios, and are concerned that they are spending their limited portfolio investment funds on non-strategic activities, reducing the likelihood that they will achieve the goals of the business and maintain or improve their competitive position in the marketplace. That’s a real problem. Without insight into all the demands across the business, and the capacity from a financial, resource and time perspective to satisfy them, there is no way to prioritize their enterprise portfolio effectively to maximize return on investment.

This is why I think the updated portfolio management capabilities in CA Clarity PPM are so attractive to the attendees at CA World. Last night the intuitive waterline portfolio view gained some ooh’s and aah’s on the exhibition center floor, and with good reason. This capability empowers the PMO to make better decisions about the use of budgets, time and resources, modeling scenarios to fit business goals and limitations.

If you’re at CA World this week, I encourage you to stop by the Exhibition Center floor to see the latest version of CA Clarity in action. Specifically, I recommend the following sessions:

  • What’s New in CA Clarity PPM – Tuesday, April 23 at 8:30 a.m. in South Pacific F
  • Customer Panel: Realizing the Benefits of Portfolio Management– Tuesday, April 23 at 10:00 a.m. in Islander G
  • Portfolio Management in CA Clarity 13.2 Deep Dive – Tuesday, April 23, at 11:15 a.m. in Islander H

If you cannot attend CA World, check back here  in a couple of weeks for postings of some of the presentations.

As always, you can visit http://www.ca.com/us/project-portfolio-management.aspx to learn more about the CA Clarity solution, and follow @CAClarity on Twitter for news on upcoming webcasts that will cover these new capabilities.
